Those who received the Visa Excellence Award
Visa honored the partners including banks, fintech institutions, merchants and those related to the ecosystem who have contributed significantly to the digital payment sector of Bangladesh. The award was given recently at the Visa Leadership Conclave 2023 at the Sheraton Dhaka under the theme 'Towards a Cashless, Smart Bangladesh'. Awards were presented in various categories at the conference, including Issuance and Acquiring, Cross-Border Payments, Product Innovation, Fintech Partnerships, Cyber source and Value-Added Services.
Islami Bank Bangladesh received three awards in three categories at the event. Islami Bank DMD AFM Kamaluddin received the award from Planning Minister Md. Abdul Mannan in the Debit Card, Prepaid Card and Islamic Card business category. On the other hand, the minister handed over the award to First Security Islami Bank Deputy Managing Director Md. Masudur Rahman Shah.
And EBL Eastern Bank Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking M. Khorshed Anwar who won the Visa Excellence Award in 4 categories. In the event, the Prepaid Card excellence in the 'Visa Excellence Award' category (associate member) was received by Midland Bank's Managing Director (ongoing duty) Md. Zahid Hossain.
Standard Chartered Bank also won the award in the credit card category. Meghna Bank, BRAC Bank, Aarong, Daraz, bKash, IT Consultancy Limited (ITCL), The City Bank, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Software Shop Limited (SSL) Wireless, Southeast Bank, United Commercial Bank, Mutual Trust Bank , The Premier Bank, Dhaka Bank, Nagad and Dutch-Bangla Bank.
Innovators, experts and industry experts participated in Visa Leadership Conclave. They discussed the payment sector through this conference and exchanged their knowledge and experience. This year's conference focused on the necessary developments to ensure large-scale digital capability in the sector and what can be done to accelerate the growth of digital payments.
Director of Payment Systems Department of Bangladesh Bank Md. Sharafat Ullah Khan was present as an honored guest at Visa Leadership Conclave 2023. Visa Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan Country Manager Soumya Bose was present in the conference along with the entire Visa team including card issuers and acquirers of Bangladesh.
